10 YEARS AND COUNTING…

It is with great pride that the Adrian Rea Literacy Center announces its 10th Anniversary. From its simple beginning in 2008, through the hard work of Sister-Foundresses Marie Schoenlein and Sarah Cavanaugh, our program has grown and continues to flourish.

Through the years the purpose of the Adrian Rea Literacy Center has remained the same — to help adults learn to read, write, and improve their English-speaking skills in order to become involved parents, prepared workers, and informed members of the community.

All of this is made possible through the service of volunteer tutors who give the gift of reading to eager learners, and generous donors who contribute to the work of our Center. Over these ten years you have helped us change lives and give a gift to learners that is both profound and enduring — the ability to read.

IN THEIR OWN WORDS…

Now I am my own translator at the doctors and at school.

My tutor helped me pass my entrance exam into the Army.

I can read all the work orders at my job and got a promotion.

I’m so happy! My tutor helped me study the 100 civics questions and I became a U.S. citizen this summer.

SUPPORT US IN OUR MISSION…

To help us continue this important work, we are starting a 10th Anniversary Fund. All funds will be used to provide support and education for our learners. Our Adrian Rea Literacy Center Board of Directors set the goal of raising $75,000. Please join in helping us reach that goal.
