A Place for Tutoring…A Place for Adult Learning…
A Place for You!
The purpose of the Adrian Rea Literacy Center, located on the Adrian Dominican Sisters Motherhouse campus, is to provide a facility where adult learners can experience a supervised quality literacy program in a welcoming environment.
A sequential curriculum with complementary resource materials is used to prepare tutors who meet the needs of both first language English speakers as well as ESL learners. The program assists adults to become more self-sufficient and confident as they acquire skills in reading, writing, and basic math.
A significant component to the literacy center is the utilization of the educational skills of semi-retired and retired Sisters who partner with volunteers from the community. Together they impart a love of learning and joy in assisting adult learners.
The Adrian Rea Literacy Center was established in 2008 to meet the needs of adult learners 18 and older who wish to improve their reading, writing, speaking and basic math skills.
Certified tutors provide free one-to-one instruction to help learners meet their individual goals and objectives.
