The Adrian Rea Literacy Center celebrated its 10th anniversary with an open house birthday party on Tuesday, February 6, 2018. This was an opportunity for adult learners and their tutors, past and present, to come “home” to the Center for a reunion and celebration. It was also an opportunity for residents of the city of Adrian to visit the Center for the first time, have a tour of the facilities and learn more about programs offered to adult learners.
Over 250 people attended the open house and enjoyed music, refreshments, prizes for all ages, and free books for children. All were able to view the 10-year anniversary time-line wall which reflects the legacy and accomplishments of over 1,175 learners and acknowledges the 940 tutors who have assisted them.
As Sister Carleen Maly, director of the Center, said, “Our committed and creative volunteer tutors have helped learners to achieve their goals of becoming involved parents, knowledgeable employees, and involved citizens. It was a great opportunity to thank everyone!”
